Problem

My mother, Linda Humphrey, created an online
portfolio for her work in travel journalism on Word-
Press. The website was difficult to navigate and lacked
a clear UI structure, which made it hard for readers and
editors to explore her work. She needed design support
to create a website that emphasized clarity and professionalism while properly honoring her work.

Design Solution

The site was completely redesigned in Figma and Wix
with a cohesive design system focused on clarity, readability,
and credibility. Content was reorganized into categories: writing samples, book, photos, and press, resulting in improved navigation. After launch, the site received positive feedback at travel journalism conferences and attracted 200+ visitors within one weeks.

Cormorant Garamond is a serif typeface
that's reminiscent of newspaper typefaces.

Ripple Effect

The ripple effect regrabs the viewer's attention when scrolling through long articles with dense paragraphs, and creates a calming tone.
