Problem
At the George Washington University, the Office of Student Life markets and hosts annual events and campus traditions, and a new theme needs to be applied each year to stay culturally relevant and boost attendance. For example, the Excellence in Student Life Awards, an annual awards ceremony honoring faculty, staff, and student organizations, required rebranding for 2025.
Design Solution
Our marketing lead chose a casual sports theme, and we collaborated to conceptualize a new logo reminiscent of classic Olympic logos. We planned to incorporate the cherry blossom flower, a recognizable trademark of spring in Washington D.C. It appears in the shape of a star to reinforce the idea of excellence. This event took place during "Buff and Bloom Week," a week jam-packed with events during peak cherry blossom season in the Spring.
