Device Doctor is a sister project to thecrisisofewaste.com that zeros in on the cellphone repair section of the website. While Crisis of E-Waste was designed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of improperly discarded cellphones—using bold visuals to convey urgency—Device Doctor offers a more solution-oriented approach. When cellphone repair is made accessible, the amount of electronic waste contaminating the earth in landfills will be reduced. The following prototype shows two courses of action: connecting with a nearby technician or following a repair tutorial for a DIY fix. It features a soothing visual language to eliminate the user’s potential panic. The purpose is to provide clarity and simplify solutions for cell-phone users with damaged devices. The app's relaxing atmosphere is emphasized with calming shades of green, which also serve to echo the idea of sustainability and “going green.”
