Problem

When a cellphone or computer user has a damaged device, they often resort to buying a new one rather than getting it repaired. If their old device goes in the trash, they may not realize this will cause hazardous chemicals to leak into the air and soil. It's unhealthy for landfill workers and animals in surrounding ecosystems. Precious metals and finite materials are also being wasted.

Design Solution

The following website advocates for cellphone users to repair or recycle their broken devices. The design seeks to magnify the problem and incite a revolution among visitors, transforming a scientifically dense topic into a lively, dynamic experience. Design elements such as the blocky typography and torn header effect make for a masculine and gritty feel across the site, echoing the coarseness of both repairing processes and toxic landfills. Each proposed solution to the crisis of e-waste serves as a link to a dedicated page: read, repair, and recycle.
